So, I decided to begin work on some Thundercats Swords and thought that I would post some pictures.
Neither of these projects took more than a day or two, so they're nothing huge.
This first one is the mass produced model repainted in the 2011 color scheme. I used my finance’s nail paint for the eye, covered with a clear coat and then the darkest green I could find for the hilt. I then cut the blade at the hilt to give it a little more of the new look.
Originally I wanted to take black paint/sharpie and color the Cat symbol on the inside of the "eye" cap and then use transparent paint on the outside so then once the interior light was turned on the symbol would appear. That didn't turn out this time, but next time maybe...
The second one was a little different. When the original promo poster came out for the 2011 series (you know the one, with a shadowed Lion-O lunging towards the audience) the sword reminded me of the ‘Kit Rae’ edition called “Sword of The Earth".
I grabbed one of those, then took the Eye of Thundera off of an old broken JLN Toy sword I still had. I then glued the eye onto the blade using PL Premium.
It still just didn't look right so I took a black sharpie and coloured the blade around the eye, then used sandpaper to make the black more round and more and even. This ended up giving the sword a more tribal look in my opinion which works very well. Finally I took my fiancé’s blue nail paint and colored the two pieces on the hilt and pommel. Neither project cost above $80.00 including the purchase of the swords.
What does anyone think? Any suggestions?

Very well done. I like the first one a bit more. But the second one would make a good live-action update.

So how much to make me one? This is awsome. The other guy who did the short sword is great too. A lot of talent in the forum. 1st one just needs the tc emblem on one side and eye on the other to be perfect.

From one HUGE Thundercats fan to another, I really wouldn't charge you anything over materials. Which one (out the two pictured) were you thinking about? The original Classic design or the strange yet attractive one?? LOL
PANTHRO HOOO says
the original with the eye from the 2nd. How long is it? if its real long is making around 30 inch possible?

If your into motu i got a ton of figures vehicles and sets to trade. Got some silverhawks and tmnt too. It really does look awsome.

Thundercats Sword of Omens Light's Up! - Anime Swords
To be perfectly honest, even $67 is a little high for this sword but around average pricing. The paint I used is just nail paint so sword and materials all in is still under $100. I can make it in an afternoon. As you can see I really just purchaced the sword, filed the 'V' grooves into the blade and put paint on the handle.
The sword is around 48 inches.
The Eye of Thundera from the 2nd sword pictured, is the eye from the 80's toy so it's a little small to put on the first sword but certainly can be done.
Not so much into MOTU and like I said I really wouldn't charge you anything. I know that sounds weird in today's day and age but I am firm believer that every Thundercats Fan (hell, even every NON Thundercats fan) should own a good Sword of Omens! LOL
@nitewing73
Thanks man!!

@Kregermeister
Hey was that you that put some the new Thundercats Soundtrack on youtube?? If so thanks!! LOL
@PANTHRO HOOO
No problem at all. It does seem a little long in the blade once you get it. I swapped the blade on mine, from Aragorn's Ranger Sword from LOTR.
If you ever change your mind let me know. I would be happy to do it none-the-less.
Yeah, I saw that model of the sword on ebay it's a little pricey for me since it's a stainless steel rat-tail tang but beautiful still. I'm currently talking to custom prop makers about getting a custom sword made after the 2011 sword model. If i find anything affordable I will certainly let you guys know! My next project is a pair of functional nun-chucks modeled after Panthro.
Cheers

They actually sell panthros chucks but there real thin. Of course is love to see you do that.

That's pretty cool. You did a great job!

Well, it took a little while - but I’ve done a third Sword. This is one is inspired more form the old "Star Comics" Thundercats Comic books.
I took the Blade from a stainless steel Gandalf Sword - Glamdring, the hilt of the stainless steel 'light up' sword of omens, and the handle from the 'asleep' or regular stainless steel sword of omens.
In this case, the sword can handles two hands, but really is only for one. I used the Eye's from the Bandai Sword of Omens and painted the handle in gold with an antiqued black in the hilt. Total length is 44" - Blade length is 34"
Just thought I would throw this one up too.... it's more of an improvement.
Special Thanks to Thunder-Jedi for the info!!
