Hear the Roar – Unofficial Guide to Thundercats

Posted on June 20, 2011 at 10:49 am by Joe Moore under Thundercats Merchandise News

A new Thundercats book has gone up for pre-order on Amazon UK. It is called Hear the Roar! The Unofficial and Unauthorised Guide to the Hit 1980s Series ThunderCats. It is written by David Chrichton. It is currently listed for UK release, with a North American release sometime later.

by David Crichton
Originally broadcast in 1985, ThunderCats has become one of the most enduring animated series of its era. For the first time in print, Hear the Roar! documents every aspect of the production of this iconic show — told by the people who made it.

Featuring over 80 exclusive interviews with cast and crew members, this definitive reference guide charts ThunderCats’ creation and development, drawing on a wealth of never-before-seen production paperwork and leaving no stone unturned.

Dedicated chapters highlight the writing, animating, scoring and recording of ThunderCats, while a comprehensive story guide reviews all 130 episodes, including notes from the scriptwriters themselves! The legendary ThunderCats toy line from LJN Toys is documented too, and even the associated series SilverHawks is explored.

This essential guide to ThunderCats demonstrates why the show continues to thrive, while many of its contemporaries have faded into obscurity…

As you know, I’ve been busy writing and preparing this mammoth volume which documents the series in every detail and runs to over 500 pages (a quarter of a million words)!

To preorder the book, the fastest way to receive your copy is by buying direct from the publishers, Telos. To do this, simply click here to link to the preorder page.

Alternatively, the book can be ordered from most good online vendors including Amazon.co.uk and Waterstones.

Hear the Roar! will also be available from high street collectible and comic stores.

Because the book is being published by a UK publisher, it will take a couple of months for all North American distributors to receive their copies. However, in the meantime US fans can purchase the book via the above routes, or sign up to be notified by Amazon.com when they receive their stock.

This project has truly been a labour of love, as I aimed to produce the definitive guide to the ‘classic’ series of ThunderCats. My sincere thanks go out to all my contributors who kindly provided their time and insight to achieve this aim.
