Press Release – Thundercats Arrive Home to the Cat’s Lair Environment Statue‏

Posted on December 6, 2011 at 1:42 pm by Joe Moore under Thundercats Merchandise News

Icon Heroes sent out a press release about their upcoming Cats’ Lair Statue.

Thundercats Arrive Home to the Cat’s Lair Environment Statue‏

Honolulu, HI, December 04, 2011 –(PR.com)– Because every hero needs a place to unwind, Icon Heroes created the museum replica of the Cat’s Lair. Made of heavy weight polyresin, this environment statue measures a massive 7.9” wide x 11” deep x 9.5” tall and weighs approximately 6 pounds. A perfect backdrop for your Thundercats station figures, this environment is detailed with towering archways, mechanical like claws, and blazing red cat eyes. The Cat’s Lair is the pivotal training ground, operations base, and sleeping quarters for the Thundercats. Sold exclusively by Action Figure Xpress and limited to only 600 pieces, this individually numbered collectors piece is a rare find.

“We were so pleased with the success of the Action Figure Xpress San Diego Comic Con exclusive Lion-O and Mumm-Ra. We hoped an iconic piece could be the focal point of the collection,” said Pat Wang, President. “With Icon Heroes’ addition of the Cat’s Lair Environment Statue, this collection brings the entire screen to life.”

ToyWiz has posted a listing for upcoming Thundercats Trading Cards. According to the listing, the cards are set to ship in January (the site says 2011, but these were just added recently, so I’m assuming the year is a flub). There will be 60 regular trading cards as well as 12 holographic foil cards in the box. Each box will contain 12 packs. Each pack will contain 8 cards, with one of those being a holographic foil card.

No images are available at this time. More info as it comes.

Hear the Roar! The Unofficial and Unauthorised Guide to the Hit 1980s Series ThunderCats
by David Crichton

Originally broadcast in 1985, ThunderCats has become one of the most enduring animated series of its era. For the first time in print, Hear the Roar! documents every aspect of the production of this iconic show — told by the people who made it.

Featuring over 80 exclusive interviews with cast and crew members, this definitive reference guide charts ThunderCats’ creation and development, drawing on a wealth of never-before-seen production paperwork and leaving no stone unturned.

Dedicated chapters highlight the writing, animating, scoring and recording of ThunderCats, while a comprehensive story guide reviews all 130 episodes, including notes from the scriptwriters themselves! The legendary ThunderCats toy line from LJN Toys is documented too, and even the associated series SilverHawks is explored.

This essential guide to ThunderCats demonstrates why the show continues to thrive, while many of its contemporaries have faded into obscurity…
