Posted on June 15, 2011 at 8:55 am by Joe Moore under Thundercats Cartoon News

When Cartoon Network’s Thundercats 2011 website went live, they had some, by now, familiar graphics present. Those with higher resolution monitors could see a bit more than those with smaller displays. There was a really nice full shot of Lion-O there. So I ripped the image pieces from the site, put them back together and you can now get a nice, full look at the Thundercats‘ young leader-to-be.

Thundercats UK Comics, Bedding and More Licenses Announced

Posted on May 18, 2011 at 8:39 am by Joe Moore under Thundercats Merchandise News

Licensing.biz is reporting that Warner Bros. Consumer Products UK has announced some new Thundercats Licensees. The new licensees for the Thundercats brand include MV Sports, Rubies, Character World and Panini. These included new scooters, a magazine (likely a comic), branded bedding and costumes. Currently, various reports seem to peg these as UK, but don’t be surprised if many of these make their way stateside.

“MV Sports, Rubies, Character World and Panini all join programme for rejuvenated 80s brand.

With the new-look animated series due to hit TV screens in Q3, Warner Bros Consumer Products has added a further four partners to its Thundercats licensing programme.

First up, MV Sports is developing a line of wheeled toys, including scooters, while Rubies is producing a dress-up range for adults and children based on the characters, Lion-o and Panthro.

In addition, Character World is planning a collection of branded bedding and Panini will be publishing the first Thundercats magazine.

The new additions join Bandai, which has a toy range including four-inch basic action figures, eight-inch classic collector figures, a Deluxe ThunderTank Vehicle with figure, a deluxe role-play sword, Staction PVC figurines and collectable limited edition porcelain statues.

The new animated series will launch on Cartoon Network in August.

“We’re all incredibly excited about the return of Thundercats and we are looking forward to reinventing though carefully respecting the heritage of this classic 80s brand,” said Paul Bufton, general manager of WBCP UK. “With our licensee partnerships shaping up and amazing retailer feedback there is every reason to believe that Thundercats could return to become one of the hottest boy brands of recent times.””

Featured Custom – GI Joe Scale Lion-O by jimsloth

Posted on May 11, 2011 at 8:49 am by Joe Moore under Thundercats Customs Showcase

Today’s Featured Thundercats Custom comes from forum member jimsloth. He created a custom Lion-O that fits right in with the 3.75″ G.I. Joe figures.

“This was made with parts from Slayer Design Studios (the head and torso).
Right forearm was from Tigerforce Duke
Left glove was from W.O. Sabertooth (unfortunately it has an extra finger)
All other parts were from Serpentor. The knees were carved away, and the boots have a sculpted upper edge.
”

Check out a couple of photos by clicking the headline of the story. If you have a custom you would like to share, simply join in and post in our Thundercats Customs Projects Forum.
