CBR Interviews Ethan Spaulding On Thundercats 2011

Posted on April 19, 2011 at 8:29 am by Joe Moore under Thundercats Cartoon News

Comic Book Resources had a chance to chat with Thundercats 2011 Executive Producer Ethan Spaulding. Here are some choice quotes from the interview.

“This skews slightly older — probably ten and up,” Norton added. “And we definitely had the ‘ThunderDads’ in mind. We’re ThunderDads ourselves, some of us. There’s definitely something in here where old school fans are going to notice things and get that familiarity, but at the same time it’s going to be new. We found a way to wipe the slate and pay homage to the original spirit of the show.”

“The series sort of starts in the middle of the story. We have a pretty vast mythology that we’re developing, and it’s a slow burn. You’re not going to find out the whole story in the first three episodes. You’re not going to find the whole story out in the first 26 episodes. But we have a story mapped out that if you’re patient, all your questions are going to be eventually answered.”

Posted on March 24, 2011 at 7:07 am by Joe Moore under Thundercats Cartoon News

Cartoon Network has sent out a press release for their upcoming television schedule. In the release, they give a short description of the series they are set to air. One of those series, obviously, is the Thundercats 2011 Cartoon. For long time fans, this info could be considered a Potential Spoiler. So stop reading now if you don’t want to know.

ThunderCats: The re-imagined animated series based on the beloved 80s classic tells the tale of a hero’s epic journey to fulfill his ultimate destiny. On Third Earth, the kingdom of Thundera is being threatened by the evil sorcerer Mumm-Ra and young heir to the throne Lion-O embarks on a great quest to take his rightful place as king. The unlikely champion, joined by his faithful comrades Tygra, Cheetara, Panthro, WilyKit, WilyKat and his loyal pet Snarf, must work together to save their world from darkness.

Cheetara Voice Actor Spotlight – Emmanuelle Chriqui

Posted on March 21, 2011 at 10:58 am by Joe Moore under Thundercats Cartoon News

Thundercats 2011 is set to launch this summer on Cartoon Network. Before it begins to air, we want to take an quick look at the voice actors for the new show. While some are very familiar to cartoon fans, others aren’t so easily recognized.

To kick things off, we’re starting with the voice actor who is probably the least recognized; Emmanuelle Chriqui, who will be voicing Cheetara. Click the headline of the story to learn about the new voice of Cheetara, and stay tuned for our next spotlight in a few days. Emmanuelle Chriqui

Born: December 10, 1977
Birthplace: Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Thundercats 2011 Voice: Cheetara

Notable Roles:

  • Wrong Turn (2003) – Carly
  • You Don’t Mess with the Zohan (2008) – Dalia
  • Robot Chicken (2008-2009) – Various
  • Entourage (2005-2010) – Sloan McQuewick
  • Tron: Uprising (2012) – Page

—————————————————————————————-

Emmanuelle Chriqui is a relative newcomer to the voice acting world, and an up and coming actress who can be seen in relatively unknown roles in various films. She’s provided various female voices in numerous episodes of Robot Chicken, but isn’t a recurring voice on the show. Her breakout live action role was as recurring character “Sloan McQuewick” on HBO’s smash hit Entourage.

However, the young actress has expressed growing interest in voice acting. she has landed two high profile voice gigs in Thundercats 2011 as Cheetara, and in Disney’s highly anticipated Tron: Uprising (coming 2012) as a character called Page. It’s clear that Chriqui has a bright future ahead of her as both a live action and voice acting star.

Cheetara’s Voice Revealed

Posted on March 9, 2011 at 9:06 am by Joe Moore under Thundercats Cartoon News

Collider has an interview with versatile actress and rising voice talent Emmanuelle Chriqui. In the interview, Chiriqui is asked about her upcoming voice work in the Disney animated series Tron: Uprising, to which she revealed her casting in the Thundercats 2011 Cartoon.

“Yeah, I suddenly have a budding career in voice-over work. I’m doing ThunderCats right now, and I did the pilot for Tron. It supposedly got picked up, but I have no idea when we’re going to be filming more. But, Tron was the first time I read a pilot for voice-over work where I was like, “I have to do this.” I love doing voice-over. It’s so fun. But, the audition process, obviously, isn’t the same. It was the first time where I was literally like, “Did I get it? Did we get feedback yet? I really love this part!” It’s really well written, like a real television show.”

Collider has confirmed that the role is that of Cheetara. With yesterday’s announcement that Kevin Michael Richardson with play Panthro and Will Friedle will be voicing Lion-O, the main cast is nearly complete.
